The Dare App
In Summer 2017, Armour was contacted by Barry MacDonagh the author of the popular “DARE Response” book. Barry has been helping people with their anxiety issues for years with his self help books and wanted to make his content and knowledge more accessible. From conversations with Armour we agreed the best way to achieve this was through use of a mobile app that offered both free and premium podcasts from Barry. These podcasts would target different mental areas such as anxiety, stress, insomnia etc and also provide breathing exercises.

UX Design
With an idea agreed upon, Armour set out firstly to identify the different types of users who would use a product such as this. We help stakeholder meetings with Barry and his team to help us fill in knowledge gaps. With an idea in mind and the intended user base, Armour start wire framing different concepts for the app. Wireframing out the app allows us to figure out the best layout and navigation. Wireframes combined with the initial research on the intended users is a major step in implementing a user friendly design.
UI Design
Barry and his team brought forward the idea to use characters to represent the different areas of the app i.e anxiety, stress, worry and we thought this sounded great, Armour got it’s lead illustrator to start work on the characters while the rest of team worked together to design the full user interface for the app.
Features
The app features professionally recorded podcasts, podcast album packs, breathing exercises, emergency exercises etc
