The Insight Kids App
Dr. Stacey Ball of the The Insight Centre came to Armour in mid 2019 with an idea for an app and required the services of an experienced design agency to make it a reality. Originally conceived as just one app, the decision was made at the start of the process to design and develop a separate app just for children. We felt the scope of the original idea that targeted children, teens and adults was just too much and that a smaller version of the main app with a different visual feel would work better for the children’s app.

Kick-Off
The start of this process began when we were gathering requirements for the Insight Adults App. Armour held stakeholder meetings with members of The Insight Centre which allowed us to gain an understanding of the types of children that would use an app such as this.
Wireframes & Prototypes
With an understanding gathered, Armour started wire framing out the initial concept. With a set of wireframes in place, Armour’s UX team created a prototype to be tested with small children. This prototype type was tested with several children between the ages of 5 – 10.
User Interface
With a validated design, Armour started crafting the final visuals for the Insight Kid’s app. Using a colourful palette with bright and friendly colours combined with kid friendly fonts.
User Testing
The implemented design proved to be a big success, early feedback was very positive. The app is now in the final stage of development and will be going live in the coming months. This project allowed Armour to gain essential experience in the area of children’s Apps which we will look forward to doing more of in the future.
