This is a new website project Armour completed for Kildare Leisure, one of Ireland’s leading gym chains. Our services spanned across UI/UX redesign, web design/development, and bespoke CMS integration.

The Challenge
Most Gym websites use a third party software application to handle new client sign-ups. The traditional ‘easy’ approach to achieve this is to redirect the user upon beginning the ‘sign up’ process to a third party web application where payment details are then processed. This can often cause the user flow to appear somewhat disjointed for the end-user as more often than not, there are quite visible conflicts in styles between the website & third-party application.
The biggest challenge for Armour and our client was re-inventing invent this cumbersome user flow. The booking and payments are still handled by a third party application (Legendware) but by developing a full integration between the client’s new website and Legendware’s software through the use of their API, we managed to dramatically improve the sign-up process for new members which resulted in a much more seamless experience for the end user.
Rationale
The key word when approaching the project was integration. Not only for the booking engine outlined above but also to achieve fully integrated class timetables which are fed directly from Legendware again through the use of their API.
Creative Inputs
We visited not just competitors websites but other gyms as well. We found the latest exercise trends are both hi-tech and social but there is also a movement towards a back to basics more gritty workouts. We sourced authentic photo imagery where you can feel the sweat.The business has so much going on – 140 classes across three clubs. We wanted to get across this busy hi-energy vibe with large bold text and bright colours.
Impact
For the client, the website’s integrated booking engine saves the client time and includes new KPI reporting. Combined with an improved experience for the customer leading to increased conversions.
